Agi Chen uses cartoon and anime characters specified by Circle Island society members on Facebook. These characters are reduced into rings of colors, by the weighted proportion of color used for the animation, these rings then replace the heroine in their original iconic scenes. Agi Chen uses her own system of color mapping to evoke the viewers of the color of characters in animations. Agi Chen, ”animation is an abstraction of and virtualization of reality, when we are focused on the characters and the story plot, colors became something that escape from our gaze and desires, nevertheless through repetition of images and scenes, these color form a structure that imprints itself inside our memory.”
“Circle Island” is the collective visual memories for participants, using it as the database for information, Agi Chen collect samples of female heroine, in the process discovers, although different cultures has their own cultural development in the use of color, but from consumer preference and marketing effects there are cross influences forming a globalized color guide for information.
