As the digital art in Taiwan has gradually reached it maturity, people also notice the progress in the development of sound art here.  Among the great amount of digital art demonstrations on this island which has been long famous for its high-tech achievement, <TranSonic> should be regarded as the most multi-cultural and the most experimental event focusing on sound art.  Here, you can feel the energetic creativity belonging to a younger generation of artists as well as their hard-to-ignore ambition, bringing in the greater potentiality in the use of materials.

In the exhibition <Sounding Objects> at Galerie Grand Siecle, we invite these sound artists to demonstrate the various features of the development of sound art in Taiwan.  It is also the first time for an art gallery to organize a sound art exhibition.  Centering the “objects” which create “sound,” the sound artists either play with the new objects or they try to come up with different concepts while employing the previously adopted objects.  Starting from a historical point of view, these artists desire to drag viewers closer to the sound master Luigi Russolo’s idea of ”the intonarumori” and Kim Cascone’s theory of “the Aesthetics of failure” (which is mainly based on the use of computer).  The development and the attitude of the “sounding objects” demonstrated thus allow viewers to have a more thorough understanding about “sound” itself.
