Jia Art Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Chinese artist Lin Yuan, a retired farmer that originated from a fisherman village in Nantou. He never received any formal education and had little knowledge about art. Due to his retirement, he decided to focus on sculptural art with his tools and started carving. Lin Yuan's act gained exposure from the media and he received support for his studio and materials, allowing him to concentrate deeply in sculpting. Due to his age, sculpting became strenuous. Hence, he slowly transits from sculpting and starts to develop an interest in painting.
Lin Yuan started sculpting at 64 years old, until his death at age 79. Throughout the 15 years span, he has created numerous amounts of sculptures, paintings and embroideries.
