This October AKI Gallery will present a rare exhibition of international and academic for Taiwan art lovers. The forth “Germany contemporary exhibition by curator Dr. Bernhard Zünkeler, will bring a strong team of 8 artists. Artists will exhibit East and West Germany a unique representation of contemporary art. A new narrative form and describe characters, to convey the era of German contemporary look. From the leading trend of German Neo-Expressionism to the new objectivism, even with classical taste of the Baroque style, which a variety of styles bring different art thinking for Taiwan audiences. It also leads us to discuss the new face of German contemporary art.
New Generation social figure With the evolution of society has been recorded in different ways and angles. Taiwan audience may familiar with Michael Sistig and he creates a super-realistic way to portray the community faces. Another artist Michael Bach is the student of Gerhard Richter who highly promotes Neo-Expressionism in 20th century. Michael is considered to be an important representative of Neo-expressionism. He conveys the contemporary interpersonal and intimate relationship by life records. The younger artist Casper Pauli put different photos together to create the social atmosphere. He interprets the Neo-expressionism by a new generation artist view and vision.
Vague vs. Clear new faces In the busy society, people seem to have an invisible estrangement and strangeness. The new interpersonal model only left vague memories. Andrea Damp awarded the most talented young artist in Berlin. She use defocus faces and color halo to create blurred face and sense of abstract distance. Wolfang Ellenrieder obtained the first German cooperative banks outstanding award, is based on the automatic nature of abstraction technique to shoe the new sense of space and relationships. On the other hand, Gabriele Basch use the concept of paper cut to record each new faces.
Human mind figure Alternation of generations, the social is always seeking a balance of old and new. Art world seems too. Gabi Hamm has extensive exhibition experience in Europe and the US. In his gorgeous Baroque costumes, characters shows their empty look. It seems to convey the look of today society and mind. Heike Kati Barath is based on the cute and childlike figures to present social anxiety.
The forth New German contemporary art exhibition – Facing Reality will present a brand new figure for Taiwan audience. Each art work will demonstrate the current German social faces.
