Ray King explores the underlying metaphors found in his Taiwanese art and the inspiration that he has found in the Chinese culture and philosophy. King has been profoundly affected and deeply influenced by his experiences in Taiwan and with the people he has encountered. His sculptures combine elements of the past with modern 21st century materials and intelligent structure, to create art that interacts with the public, responds to the surrounding environment and honors the past as well as heralds the future.
Ray King is an artist who uses the natural phenomenon of light as an art medium. This exhibition, “Adventures in Light and Color,” will focus on King’s use of optics, light refraction and color projection in three monumental sculptures-“Time/Space”, “Dancing Feathers” “Solar Sonic”-commissioned for public art projects in Taiwan.
