Yan Ming-Hui’s work can be seen as a developing style that goes toward honesty. In the early 90’s, her work focused on “women’s reaction toward gender perception and reaction in male-centered society”. The topic centered around gender issue. She used realistic technique to create imagery to represent a certain concept or rule. By placing them side-by-side, an interpretation of the interrelationship transfers to the spectators’ eyes. Her message becomes clear to the audience. The separation of the images creates a gap. Sometimes, this “jump and connect” technique evokes a more direct sentiment, a more dynamic stimulus through the observation. From a flower or a bare confession, life’s rhythm and presentation demonstrates inner beauty is everlasting compare to the physical appearance.
