In 63 year of his life, Ming-Te Chiang experienced much hardship and drudgery. His talent and persistence in art finally come through for him “leaving behind the history to go forward, stay in a corner to become resplendent”. Although he suffered from a long-term illness toward the later part of his life, he moved steadily toward his belief and diligently worked and studied art and literature。
Chiang’s work is from “not a mountain, not a tree, but between the mountain and the tree”. It evolved from this idea with colorful movements. In his work, there is the ripple of wind and cloud, expressed with most completely and wholly enthused coloring. In the transition of harmony of Men and Nature, the sturdy position of trees sketches out the painter’s own twists and turns in life as well as an unmoving steadiness in his belief. He left almost a thousand pieces of work behind him with a large volume of manuscript “History and Legend” on art theories.
