JOHN&FISH is one of the most popular ornithology photography teams on the renowned photo site flickr. Their photography career started in 2006 and joined flickr in 2007. Their album has reached over a million clicks in just over two years. John and Fish wants to share the beautiful nature in Taiwan with the world, and part of their work has been inspired by reactions given by the online feedbacks.

John and Fish are brother and sister, and have been living and working together for over 20 years; and discover life with a common belief in Buddhism. John founded arcaré Corp., a software technology company providing a development platform for Knowledge Economy. This technology platform that allows companies to obtain application software by simply define knowledge will efficiently create more knowledge-related jobs in the economy. Proper performance of knowledge will also lead the whole industry conduct the economy, and improve environment-protecting actions. Fish has been assisting John throughout the whole time until they occasionally spotted fascinating photographs of birds. The photos not only amazed them by beauty of birds in Taiwan, but also awake them to their love to the nature; they decided to start photographing as a balance pole to their bodies and minds right away.

From the very beginning, JOHN&FISH takes photographs from an artistic perspective. But John's diverse education adds richness and depth to their photographs. His extensive training in music and the arts have given him the discipline and focus necessary to capture birds in the wild. Each photograph looks like a painting. Its meaning is different for each person, but their ultimate hope is to inspire people to see the world in a different way. In creating a dialog with the viewer, his mind as an artist is enriched and the process becomes a creative cycle.

To capture birds' images, John and Fish often have to drive a long way to destinations; therefore, Fish plays an important role on this team. On the other hand, Fish's good hearing helps John find targets more easily; while discussing the works, Fish is the first person John talks to. Now, John&Fish Studio is organized, John focuses on photographing, and Fish takes care of all the other matters.

Global warming has become more serious day after day; the only way to solve this problem is to decrease damage to the eco environment to enable our planet take a break. JOHN&FISH expect to produce more and better photographs, and remind the viewers with the most beautiful and amusing figures of the idea that if we hope to keep them and their habitats alive, we have to protect the nature. This is not only for birds' own good, but also tends to extend the breath of human kind.

The Photography Concept of JOHN&FISH

Simply to say, the photography that we know is the light and shadow of each scene captured through the optical lens by photographers and it can be shown in front of viewers at the last. At the one hand the imaging principle through the optical lens constrains the photographers, at the other hand it also wrings out great ability of photographers. Therefore we convince ourselves to follow rules of photography that established at definite theme, depth of field, casual scene, composition, light and such other factors, and we also observe the outstanding photography works are mostly based on those staples, which build photographs with specific characteristics apart from any other creations.

The viewers reserve their thoughts and perspective of view through reflecting on the visual stimulus of works, so that any so called good works have to reward the visual senses of viewers at the beginning. In order not to be tipped cold shoulders from them, photographers have to enhance the skills and aesthetics in this part to be throughout in perfect presentation of visual beauty of works.
Any photograph is dedicated in every moment when pressing a shutter, and we shall agree that through a viewfinder in a millionth of a second only few elements as passwords carried to preserve the touch of mind at the moment. So to speak that quality of the precise elements uploaded on works can tell all things better than in plethora of quantities. Sure the premise is the visual composition remains the most important.

The inner mentality of photographers determines the value of works, the internal activity that we call “inner touch” occurs every time when the scene emerging out of the sensational perception of photographers. So this “Inner touch” drives our fingers to press the shutter and craft each important work. Any follow-up receptions from the viewers later only exist apart from any work of itself. Any photographer should do is just to face his or her “inner touch” and mental activities honestly by time so that he or she may bring out creativeness to lead all persons to a breathtaking wonderland. We consider all this is an explicit challenge and engagement, so is the inevitable responsibility for JOHN&FISH as professional photographers.
