My studio was burned down to ashes over night. Not only that I lost all artworks created over the years but also the precious memories collected during the period of time. Staring at the charred debris, the emotions were overwhelming. Undoubtedly, the accident was a trauma to me. After much inner struggles, I decided to accept this unexpected situation. Suddenly, I realized that as the shackle loosened, creating art became easier and more natural. Feeling free from the burden, art-making became unencumbered; its fun and joy also grew more. Looking back upon the accident, it no longer feels like a trauma but a positively stimulating force.
This exhibition reflects the life experience of the artist through free-flowing or contrasting colors in the images. Layers of texture form the space that the artist uses to represent her self-examination and the documentation of her own dialectic process.
