Fruition– Fulfill Arts
by Project Fulfill Art Space (PF Art Space)
Location: Project Fulfill Art Space
Artist(s): LuxuryLogico
Date: 28 Apr - 1 Jun 2012

To paste the Chinese character, Fu (meaning good fortune), on the doors—an action that symbolizes the longing of a life with abundance.

“Fruition—Fulfill Arts” is custom made project by Luxury Logico, Taiwan contemporary art’s super hybrid artist group, for Project Fulfill Art Space.

The Fruition Project is a sub-project of Luxury Logico’s Project Woodpecker (Note) which is to explore the environment of the art world. The first step is to become the collectors themselves. Second, the collections had become their inspiration for creating 9 new pieces out of/ on to them. After experiencing as collectors and artists, Luxury Logic will invite other collectors to have conversations during the exhibition.

In this project, Luxury Logico selected artists/works that they all admired, and tried their best to contact the artists in person to conduct a talk that furthered our understanding of their works. Afterwards they acquired the works. At the end, the nine artists on their list of collection were from different generations. Their works stand for divergent methods of expression. Although the only shared reason of why Luxury Logico have chosen these works is their admiration of them, there might be an underlying possibility referring to a certain degree of investment.

The nine “new works” created by Luxury Logico include three parts:
1.    The point of view: it is what they think about the work as an item of their collection as well as the inspiration their original creators have brought us. This is also the chief background of their re-interpretations.
2.    The collection: their collections of other nine artists are placed within the new works. Therefore, the meaning of each new work is threefold—“the inspiration,” “the treasure within,” and “the selling.”
3.    The documentation: the documentation for the collector consists of the guaranties from the artists, whose works were previously acquired by them, the guaranty and related papers of the new work from the Fruition Project.

Another high light is that there will be 8 limited edition pieces provided during the exhibition period. 8 Chinese characters “FU” written by 8 artists (whose works are collected) etching on 8 boxes in which contain Luxury Logico’s Spring Festival couplets will be sold within 8 limited of timeslots. They are nice delicate pieces for fans who love the artists and the group.

A special event, One day performance by Luxury Logico, will take place at 5pm on May 5th to 4pm on May 6th in Project Fulfill Art Space. It’s a tribute to Sam Hsieh’s “ONE YEAR PERFORMANCE 1978-79”. This group of 4 members will be restless for 24 hours to make a calendar divided one day into 365 sections. Please come cheer them up anytime during this day!

(Note): “Project Woodpecker” is like a woodpecker, whose repetitive action of boring holes into wood has a function of pest removal, the endless pecking also functions as a method of food collection for the woodpecker. The creative spirit that drives Luxury Logico comes from an interdisciplinary, cross-referential methodological hybrid that combines old and new technologies. A single idea is simultaneously processed through different modes of logic. The collective plan, “Project Woodpecker” arose out of this mindset.
