Dot.Dot.Dot
by MOT/ARTS
Location: MOT/ARTS
Artist(s): LuxuryLogico
Date: 26 Feb - 10 Apr 2011

The name of the exhibition “Dot.Dot.Dot” derives from the motion of the metronome, depicting the regular and repetitive pattern of a rhythmic motion that is composed of three beats—each further divided into three parts.

The Chinese name of the exhibition is “Swimming (which signifies sport) fits (which signifies being precise and perfect for) compound triple meters (which signify beats)”—meaning that the universe and all that it contains has their own suitable beats.

“Dot.Dot.Dot” gives the beats to the whole exhibition; “Swimming” is represented by fluorescent tubes arranged in a rectangular shape, portraying slowly-moving waves; “Gathering” is an installation arranged squarely; “Compound Triple” describes rotation.

“Dot.Dot.Dot” contextually renders technology closer to its principle and philosophy beyond human sense and perception, and becomes a series that is highly characterized by physical property. The overall movements and rhythms make reference to water sports with an ethos that is developed from the characteristics of music, thereby making the pieces in this series reciprocal beats of each other—in a sometimes disordered and sometimes unanimous fashion—in the space of the exhibition.

LuxuryLogico advocates and theorizes the concept of hybrid. Based on the spirit of humanism and absorbing experiences of daily life after the 1980s in Taiwan, they convert their aesthetics into a theme of cooperation. Following this central theme, their works transform techniques and patterns, showing that LuxuryLogico has become an art group of hybrid.
