Artist Comment This series of work is a collection of images of "Deterioration" in which something rots and "Reborn" in which something appears. When I come across such scenery, I get all excited and seized with a desire to capture it with a camera. What deteriorate and reborn are not necessarily things with life. It could be a bottom of a pond that went dry or a modern building. The thought of just imagining that even such inorganic things deteriorate and regenerate makes me excited.

"Impermanence of worldly things" is an idea in the Buddhism term. It means that all worldly things are transitory; they never stay at the same place nor are constant. Things always change and repeat the circle of collapse and rebirth. We are no exceptions; people starts getting old and dies the moment the person is born. However, in the cycle of nature, we also leave our descendants and regenerate.

In this series of work, I aimed to express the beauty and the strength in things that continue the circle of deterioration and regeneration. It is because I feel it heals the pessimistic feelings, such as despair, disappointment, feebleness, and vain effort within me as well as leaving the viewers in positive spirit.
