No Words Needed
by YOD Gallery
Location: YOD Gallery
Artist(s): Takuro SUGIYAMA, Ken KAGAJO, Yasuhiro HARA, Hidehito MATSUBARA
Date: 4 Sep - 22 Sep 2012

YOD Gallery is delightfully featuring the new group exhibition 'No Words Needed' by Ken Kagajo, Takuro Sugiyama, Yasuhiro Hara, and Hidehito Matsubara.

Language catches all feelings and essence of truth, and suggests certain direction to us. That way provides freedom to go everywhere through perspective of a viewer within the world of art which contains both artist's sensitivity and motion. But since the world of artworks has no answer and never ends, a viewer doesn't know how to comprehend and pass the limit of one's knowledge. Even though viewers try to understand artworks based on language, it makes us create an illusion that we understand art completely. Also, appreciating artworks by importing language limits a view and produces an obsession for right opinion and mindset. When we are deeply absorbed in artwork, language is not needed, but when we make our opinion firmly, then language is needed.

In this exhibition, artists have the common tendency, 'abstraction', but express different own sensitivity and the unique world. Focusing on sculpture made by own emotion and sense, Ken Kagajo uses bold colours with dyeing technique. As controlling balance between light and color, Takuro Sugiyama makes unrealistic solid artwork on a plane with using line and side skillfully. Yasuhiro Hira bases his works around light covering dark as drawing cross, which arouses primitive image, over and over. Hidehito Matsubara creates deep-rooted and fascinating world, as well as just beautiful. Each artist has own world of art, but even though a viewer has different thought with them, it's not a mistake, it's a power of art. Also, it brings us into art deeply and fuels another life to artworks at the same time.
