In 1939 born in Kobe, Japan. In 1957 Horio's first abstract paintingis selected inclusion in the 10th Ashiya City Exhibition and meets Jiro Yoshihara there. In 1965 shows first work with15th Gutai Art Exhibition. In 1966 becomes member of the Gutai Art Association, and remains with the group until its dissolution in 1972. Since about 1985, he begins to paint a variety of objects with one color per day on a series of Atarimae-no-koto (Truism).
