Takasu Hideho Solo Exhibition
by Gallery Kaze
Location: Gallery Kaze
Artist(s): Takasu HIDEHO
Date: 14 Oct - 22 Oct 2012

Recently, Takasu has committed himself to essence of sculpture, beyond self-expression and his argument for modern art. Thus, as go-between for a society and art, he could try to tell others' life or memories, rather than corporeality or spatiality of traditional sculpture. Again, he started using 'a life story or memory' for works. This work was inspired by Modern Japanese history. Takasu was born right after the war, and has lived during a period of high economic growth, but with collapsed bubble economy in early 1990s, the generation he included started finding a spiritual value. Thus, through his life, he wants to re-look at it disappeared in Japan. And as putting people's personal and small stories, he creates his art works. Generally, person makes a family, family makes a village, and they form a country. According to this, we can say that personal story is closely related to modern and contemporary Japanese history. It's not made artificially, is hiding a history in people's heart.
Now, Takasu is interested in this theme most, and feels the social gravity and importance as participating in 'Ten Ten Den Project', which connects a society and art.
