Unlike other methods, such as oil painting, most of prints focus on expression of 'black.' Gallery Shirakawa is pleased to feature selected prints, which show this characteristic among collections.
In this exhibition, early monochrome works in 1950s by Yukio Fuzakawa, a leader of copper print, Shigeo Risho's prize winning works in 1908s, chair series by Yamamoto Keisuke, who has shown lithography works using light and shadow through monochrome, Osamu Fujita's world of black using photopolymer gravure method as the best will be exhibited. Also, sculptor Katsura Funakoshi's firstly challenged mezzotint works, Sam Francis' monochrome works will be showed together.
The exhibition will be a change to find a difference of expression for 'black' among art works and a beauty of prints.
