Born in Osaka in 1961, Yamamoto received his MFA from Kanazawa College of Art and Design in '86. In '93 he won the Grand Prix at the Sapporo International Print Biennale. In '95 he was awarded a research grant from the Cultural Agency to study in Italy and in '98 he was awarded the Wakayama Modern Art Museum Prize at the Japan Contemporary Art Exhibition. He is a member of the Japan Print Association.
