"My eyes track a small movement right in front of my eyes. There is a field lying as usual before me. My desire is to stare at the field, not as a whole scene, but as small particles. I would like to be sure that I become a particle, to be a part of the scene that I belong to."
- Yu Kawakita
Yu Kawakita was born in Kyoto, in 1983. In 2006, she graduated from Kyoto Seika University with MFA in Oil Painting. Kawakita participated in group exhibitions in Galerie Kashya Hildbrand (Zurich) in 2008 & 2009, had her solo exhibition in INAX GALLERY (Tokyo) in 2010, and exhibited in a two-person show in a M (Tokyo) in 2011. Kawakita tries to create works by reflecting the power of the nature that we are not able to resist, even realizing the strength of nature that is nearly impossible to render in paint by brushes. Kawakita’s works, at the first sight, creates within you delicate impressions. Yet, you even feel a fearful quality of nature as you observe them. Kawakita uses natural phenomenon, such as the movement of water and vaporization, as her brushes to create her works. You cannot understand her unique techniques unless you actually view her works in person. Please come visit us to enjoy Yu Kawakita’s world, “Particles within Particles within Scenes”
