Magician Space is mainly devoted to address and summarize blank spots in the current development of Chinese contemporary art. Its annual exhibition projects invite artists with serious attitude and experimental spirits to participate and propose projects that aim to provoke viewers’ thinking - vertically on current contemporary ideology and horizontally on the expanding existing models of thinking and visual habits.

Exhibition: Four exhibitions annually, 8 weeks in duration
Two of which provides young artists opportunities to exhibit their artworks and ideas
Two other exhibitions explore artists of important values who are neglected by consumer society.
The exhibition would be proposed by the artist, then discussed with the space to finalize a plan of execution. No restrictions on material and artistic form.

Curator Project: Proposals from young curators are also accepted, to provide them opportunities and venue for curatorial practice.

Pre-requisite for artists: Young Artists

Project Duration: 45 days

Publication: With each project, a small catalogue will also be published in order to showcase the exhibition project in detail and depth.

Discussion: Each project is paired with an academic discussion, inviting professionals to discuss and digest on the exhibition. The discussion is then recorded, transcribed, translated and then published with various media.

Promotion:  The space publishes Collection of Rubic’s Cube, which comprises of conversation with artists, proposal discussions, topic discussions, academic conversations and forums.

Nature of the Organization:  The space accepts non-conditional supports and funds for the development of contemporary Chinese art, and has founded a special art fund unit. The donor’s name is then thanked under promotional advertisements. The profits made from the space is then transferred into an endowment, and then used to support financially disadvantaged artists. This project will be permanent financial support at Magician Space.

Commerce:  The space has the right to sell artworks the artist has given the rights to be represented, and provides services for those interested in collecting art.
