EREWHON is Korean artist, Yim Tae Kyu’s first ever solo exhibition in China. Having been living in Beijing since the summer Olympics last year, this exhibition will showcase works executed in this period. The exhibition will run from the 9th of May to the 30th of June, 2009 at ART SEASONS Beijing @ 798 Art District.

A graduate from Seoul National University, Yim Tae Kyu’s background is surprisingly not in graphic design but in traditional ink painting. Even though Yim Tae Kyu does utilize ink on paper as his medium, this is where the similarities end. His style is reminiscent of comic book drawings and etchings than a traditionally composed ink painting. This is a nod to the era he grew up in, and the strong influence of 20th century caricature drawing on artists today.
