From Point to Endless
By De Sophe Tedeschi

All painters start their work with a point.  So does Shen Gui, who depicts a grand world of his own and a world of understanding from this point but joins and extends the points. They are pictures of figurines, animals, and nature, telling his own stories and those of the world in his eyes.

The very basic symbols of his paintings, Shen Gui has reorganized the points accurately with great care, showcasing the contrast between the bright and the dark, thus giving birth to an entire, huge picture of vision.

Magic lay in the entire process of painting. Beautiful, grand pictures present in our eyes thanks to his skillful brush work combining, connecting the points, weaving the picture of what he has experienced, dreamed, fancied, and thought of..

The whole process of painting is full of passion. Nobody knows how many days and nights that Shen has devoted to his dreamland of searching and meditating, then expressing his feelings for life, telling his own stories, describing the past and the future of our planet, and his birth and eternity, The stories are poetic, profound in moral, and full of imagination.
Shen Gui is bestowed with sharpening eyes and skilled hands. He is good at depicting ordinary life, named persons and detailed matters with superb spirit, leading the viewers to a universe, far and wide. We are amazed by his means of painting and deeply impressed by his angle of looking at the world with mysterious beauty. We feel and surpass time and space along with Shen Gui.

Like all master painters, Shen Gui has driven his painting brush with crazy and heart-beating ideas, coving you and me, Bodhisattva, tigers, clouds, oceans, and the Milky Way-an endless world of everything. We travel with him following his points, expressive, mysterious, flowing, crisscrossing, and shivering in black and white, as if we were traveling first on a horseback then in a spaceship….

Shen’s paintings remind me of the Museum of Imagination. His work should be collected there, As a Chinese artist; Shen Gui has depicted a world of profound moral and imagination, seemingly askingļ¼š “What will the space be when freedom tends to be endless?”
