Every piece my painting comes from a unique life experience of mine, such as grasshopper catching, hiding human skull at home, embracing my father when he coughed out blood, the awkwardness when I ran into the bathroom janitor, and the fight in school. These vivid memories of personal experiences have formed the source of inspiration for my works. What is more important is that the method of “arbitrarily smearing over” goes well with my subject matter and ideas; they are combinations of adorable colors, cute images, and absurd story lines. Following my instinct, I first draw the outline, and then I fill in with colors. This process is so natural to me, but it is different from a child’s painting because the forms and colors that may seem randomly chosen are actually purposefully designed for my ideal presentation.
