This September, to celebrate its fifth anniversary, Triumph Art Space is hosting an exhibition of early 20th-Century classic artworks - "The Debut of Western Painting in China: Early 20th-Century Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition" which will display three categories of works including portrait, still life and landscape, from September 22 to Oct 11.
The works are contributed by artists' family members and important collectors all over the world, including paintings, drawings, sketches and watercolors works by Li Tiefu, Hu Gentian, Yan Wenliang, Wang Yachen , Xu Beihong, Fang Junbi, Guan Liang, Lin Fengmian, Ni Yide, Wu Dayu, Zhou Bichu, Pang Xunqin, Qin Xuanfu, Zhu Yuanzhi(Yun Gee), Huang Xianzhi, Hu Shanyu, Lin dachuan, Sha Ji(Sadji), Tu Ke, Zhu Dequn(Chu Teh-chun), Zhao Wuji(Zao Wou-ki), Wu Guanzhong. We believe that it will be a "museum level" exhibition. Along with the exhibition, a catalogue will be published, which could serve as a reference for researchers to do further studies.
The displayed works have important artistic value and literature value of the development of Chinese oil painting. Our purpose is not only to express respect to these important artists in the 20th century, but also to further sort out the path and logic of the development of contemporary Chinese art and to have a positive impact for the present art scene.
