The talented Cuban artist Rene Francisco Rodriguez was born in Holguin, Cuba in 1960; he graduated from the Cuban Higher Institute of Arts and in 2010 won Cuba's National Art Award.
After the first encounter between the Chinese public and the artist Rene Francisco in the 2010 Cuban Avant-Garde exhibition in Xin Dong Cheng Space for Contemporary Art in Beijing, the artist unique working style and artistic language are still fresh in the memory of the public and everyone involved in this exhibition; in this regard together with the artist we create a project from 15th July to 15th September in which the artist Rene Francisco comes to Beijing to realize this project: “Work in progress in-site creation" is organized to allows the Chinese audience to have a deeper understanding of the artist’s work by a day to day immersion in the artist daily working environment.
Different from past exhibitions held in Xin Dong Cheng Space for Contemporary Art, the in-site creation program will show the whole process of Rene’s artistic creation and will serve as part of the exhibition that together with literature documents will be presented to the Chinese audience.
For two months, the public will see and feel his artistic touch through a range of artworks such as painting, installations and materials elements and will also interact with the artist; it is as much as a adventure for him as it is for them.
Indeed Rene Francisco once had a one-time look backward and saw the immensity of life becoming a huge and enigmatic sphere full of meanings, this time he sees in this project the continuity of life and the future as a promising adventure bringing in the experience and a wonderful source of meditation.
After the end of the creative project, all works will be held in Xin Dong Cheng Space for Contemporary Art Opening in 15th September 2012, there will also be invited a famous singer from Cuba to perform in a party the evening of 15th September… singer Kelvis Ochoa Cruz stage expression and enthusiastic performances are well worth the wait!
