The title of “Uneasy Trip in Asia” originally belonged to Iida Yuko, as the name of her solo show held in Beijing in 2008. Being a Japanese living in China for almost 10 years, she has also lived in some other Asian cities i.e. Hong Kong, Taipei and Soul. In her surrealism paintings, she repeatedly portrays the seemingly most ordinary people, events and objects. In March 2013, with the title of “Uneasy Trip in Asia” in cooperation with different institutions, Star Gallery began to hold group exhibition for Asian artists in Beijing, Taipei, and Hong Kong. Through vivid individual experiences and personal expressions, the uneasiness in Asian reality are connected and articulated.
This time, "Uneasy Trip in Asia 2014“ also begins at Star Gallery showing works from over 40 artists , which is a significant increase in number of participating artists from a wider geographical and age span. Regarding the presentation of the show, brief text introducing the background and motivation of each work will be displayed as well. Meanwhile, the exhibition also invites psychologists, and try to explore the underlying implications beyond the scope of "Aesthetics".
