“Shooting”—to shoot an arrow, a ball, a picture—implies an innate act in repetition. The Chinese exhibition title “killer” is a figure who kills beyond personal will and murders the unprepared victim. In the contemporary art, it refers to the fact that the artist not only articulates an esthetic experience but also interacts with the audience intellectually. The art work delivers this message to the audience and it will be seen in their reactions which finally complete the work. This communication among the artist, the work and the audience often breaks through the form with spiritual power in a natural tone. In this sense the installation art is keen to interact with the audience, as the “Mind Games” makes you shoot while looking up to the giants in philosophy and the work of Sun Yuan & Peng Yu is very sensational in expression.

In the 2005 Venice Biennale, Blue Noses and Son Yuan & Peng Yu represented the art of their own countries, Russia and China, both are rich in culture and history in vast lands. The two groups are gathered here this time to offer the audience a chance to shoot and to reflect on the cultural exchange on the side.
