Leeahn Gallery Daegu features the solo exhibition 'Nature & Gogh' by Lee Lee Nam, who creates different time, culture and concepts, like tradition and today or painting and animation, as a moving image. In this exhibition, Lee Lee Nam introduces 10 art works including a new digital objet using Vincent Van Gogh as hommage and a media art showing an ink landscape painting in the newest media technology.
Lee Lee Nam has received great attentions from the public with new digital video pieces. Even though he borrows Western notale paintings by Klimt or Gogh and Oriental traditional images, reinterprets them from a contemporary view with adding different image and story unlike the original meanings. As turning boundaries between Western and Orienta, painting and sculpture and tradition and today into an interface between different culture, time and history, he creates the media art attracting to the viewers.
Saying 'All art works are from a daily life. Art means the life.', the artist has successfully exhibited the new media art works based on Western and Oriental famous paintings at Media Art Biennale in 2006. His digital painting with a depth of meditation and contemplation has developed a possibility of media art.
After the current exhibition, he is planning to open the solo exhibition in Thailand, New York and Berlin, and participate in Chengdu Biennale and Kobe Biennale.
