The sculptor Wook Hee Jang shows her sculptures containing her inner mind and philosophy, under the subject 'existence of matrix in life'. As you can see the title, a matrix which is knotty looks like our life, thus her unique sculptures are the figurations of this.
She does carving works which express solemn life and hope mostly, and value of the nature. Using natural materials founded in daily life, her work is metaphorical and symbolic. Jang focuses on 'value' which many people think about, and keeps thinking and researching about it to find a fundamental message. Her works look very simple but her philosophical concerns are contained. She calls her way of expression as 'the ecological mesh'. Recently, her works are changed in a way of access to natural images. In other words, she maintains an appearance of image but express it more clearly than real one. In 'Fallen leaves' series, she added a new meaning to fallen leaves with valuable lives and recreated them. Everything in the world looks different but all of them are connected to each other as the matrix, so she tries to embody it in her works. In this exhibition, she will show 20 sculptures and digital prints.
