Fabriqué en Chine - Chinese Artists Group Exhibition
by Beyond Art Space
Location: Beyond Art Space
Date: 22 Dec 2010 - 27 Mar 2011

"The domestic products" are criticized by Chinese contemporary art and also other fields such as politics and economy which are advertised to promote the "Made In China" as a neutral critic. China's rapid development in recent years, have experienced an unprecedented political and economical leap forward, but have hidden deep problems that we have to face soon. Chinese contemporary art is a branch of the social structure, and it also characterizes the development of the social change. About 20 or 30 years ago the well known Political Pop style from the west, the composition as well as the development of Chinese contemporary art and the rich diversity of their own, makes that there is more attention to advocating a return to the traditional and the nativism. At this point, facing Chinese contemporary art is not only looking to whether the concept of independence is true, but the language is to carry on into a deep artistic level in order to get renewal. Many artists return to the research and think about the ontology of art. The simple replication of the traditional will only become another pop art and symbol, and the over advertising of "The domestic products" spirit, just as the overvalued "Youth of art", seems very likely to be criticized and are used simply as one kind of "Style", not as the spiritual core of the soul with a wealth for the works of art.

In this exhibition, we want to show that "The domestic products" are neutral, and that it is an ongoing process and state, which does not emphasizes the "Made in China", but it is said that Chinese contemporary art has a common international language and an authenticity of the Chinese spirit without any affectation.
