Dark Fragrance - Guo Shuling’s Solo Exhibition’ will be held at Beyond Art Space. Guo Shuling is a young artist, two years ago she graduated from China Central Academy of Fine Art. This exhibition will show Guo Shuling’s paintings in recent years, and this is also her first solo exhibition.

Tremendous changes has happened in recent 30 years in China, the young generation growing up during this period, experienced changes both in material circumstances and spiritual values carried by rapid expansion of the society. Facing to the contrast between childhood and contemporary life, the big gap between memory and reality, these sensitive artists showed different attitudes: anxiety, perplexity, self-absorbed, missing the past or sneering at the present. Guo Shuling is also indulged herself with the happy memories of her childhood, and by painting, the past could recur or compensate the psychological blow to the present. But, there is not any reminiscent sentimentality or lament for disappeared indeed, on the contrary, she painted by extremely enthusiasm to create an Utopia belongs to herself. The plants from imagination with the exuberant vitality revealed a new world, combined the past and the future.

There are so many gorgeous plants with different forms and bright colors, all of them are from real world or imagination, spreads all over Guo Shuling’s canvas, it gives a mightily impressive to all admirers. The canvas were endowed boundless vitality by the artist, and the vigorous plants will allow you have too much to see, besides, some figures are in hiding of the paintings, peered from the plants, part of the bodies revealed in a subtle way. A full range of emotions and self-desire are concealed in the clump of plants deeply, no matter the protagonist revealed or not, like an undercurrent, desire and passion are flowing in the clumps affectionately.
