Geng Xue's ceramic art was awarded top prize at the Graduation Exhibition of Central Academy of Fine Art, School of Sculpture 2007. It was refreshing to find very little traces of Western sculpture masterpieces that we see so much of in academic text-books, instead we see traditional Chinese scholarly notions and understanding of sex and affection in her art. Chinese porcelain combines calligraphy, painting, literature and art & craft. It had been the Chinese expression of aesthetics and emotions throughout history and could also be the case for ages to come. Geng Xue is undoubtedly infatuated with traditional aestheticism and is trying to retain the understanding of sculpture and beauty through ceramic art, this very effort of trying should probably be an important topic for ceramics in Contemporary Chinese Art.
