Modern people have an emotion called nostalgia. We have a lot of old objects that cannot be discarded in our lives. They followed their owners as time goes by and tainted the owners’ personalities, emotions, memories… and even the trace of society.

Memories can be pinned on many kinds of objects. Photographer Liu Gang selects clothes as the main subject to be photographed, with no owners, leaving the viewer to think. This set of clothes spans 30 years, which is not a simple record of a family but to use the change of clothes to reflect the changing times. People are changing, times are changing, spirit is changing as well. Gazing at this group of photos quietly, we seem to be following the photographer to cross the times, which make us to think. These clothes have obvious characteristics of the times, from the Mao-style Chinese tunic suit to luxury leather jacket, the times gave them traces that cannot be erased while it brought memories back to people.

The photographer chose the Wet plate processing – an old photographic process with more than 100 years history to shoot these photos, which connects with the subjects being photographed. Through this combination, we can see the old times reflected on the objects, as well as the memory of families and the society, let us keep these memories well..
