It is quite difficult to grasp the unifying thread of Wattuya's huge body of works; he has been active on the international scene for over a decade now always excelling at translating his provocative social visions into forceful artworks, through very dicerse subjects.
The women in army uniforms can be seen as a satire portrait of the Chinese mega power. The obvious attractiveness of these young women contrasts humorously with authority image they want to give with their guns, ordered actions and uniforms.
Tawan Wattuya gathers myths, factual historical elements and modern day icons in this rich and sensual selection of works bringing the viewer to question his own origins and foundations.
