“We believe that creativity and the arts play an integral role in the daily lives of the community,” said Don Taylor, General Manager, Offices at Swire Properties. “Transforming spaces has always been a fundamental cornerstone behind our work, and we were excited to do this for TaiKoo Place and offer a unique platform for the public to experience diverse
With the “Work in Progress” project, building exteriors, loading bays and office interiors will be transformed into blank canvases and used office fixtures will take on new life as art materials. A medley of street arts will be reinterpreted for these unique spaces and resources, including: Vhils, Victor Ash and RONE’s astonishing portraits; Beastman, Meggs and RONE jamming with Hong Kong-based artists 4Get, Mark Goss, PANTONE C, Parent’s Parents and XEME; Cyrcle’s mixed-media installations and their first animation work; and the collaboration of Cannonball Press with local Hong Kong students.
From murals, sculptures, to mixed-media installations, these inspiring artworks will be gradually unveiled in TaiKoo Place over a 2-month period. Following the tremendous success of its street painting events in 2005 and 2006, Swire Properties’ “Work in Progress” project adds another layer to this ephemeral and viral art form in the urban setting of Hong Kong.
In a collaboration with the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation (YAF) and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), local students, teachers, art and design professionals and the wider community can engage in workshops and talks to learn about the creative process of the project and how to create different forms of street art.
