Myths of the twelve animals in the Chinese Zodiac have amazed people around the world for thousands of years. Aiming to integrate this unique traditional Chinese theme with contemporary design and advanced production techniques, Project Twelve, organized by Culture Laboratory, is a cultural and design exploratory project of the twelve animal signs of the Chinese Zodiac. Each year the project invites a leading Asian artist or designer to create an art piece using the zodiac sign of the particular year as a theme.
To celebrate the sixth year of Project Twelve, the project co-organized with Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery to present Spirit of the Serpentines, unveiling “Long Xing” and “She Wu”, the Dragon and Snake art pieces by world-class designers Chelsia Lau and Dennis Chan respectively. The exhibition will be held on 20th November – 4th December 2012. Previous art pieces from the Year of Rat to the Year of Rabbit would be exhibited along. All the six art pieces reveal the characteristics and interpretations of the artists and designers, providing a new perspective on contemporary art and Chinese tradition.
