In conjunction with Connoisseur Contemporary’s participation in Scope Basel 2009, the most global art show in the world held at Sportplatz Landhof, Switzerland, new works by Li Shurui will also be featured in our Hong Kong gallery. Li Shurui was born in Chongqing, China in 1981. Known as one of the emerging female artists in China, Li belongs to a new generation of contemporary artists with the courage to approach art in a quite innovative way and their works aim to create a powerful statement, offering a fresh perspective on the state of mind and the energy of youth. In Li’s new works, she has used new colour combinations that are striking and captivating, and in a format and composition that she has never attempted before. Her paintings are strong and powerful, not just because of the large format and outstanding compositions, but the luminescence she creates with her palette that leaves its viewers bedazzled.
