LI Shu Rui biography | artworks | events

Li Shurui was born in Chongqing, China in 1981. She is now living in Beijing. Her paintings are strong and powerful, not just because of the large format and striking compositions, but the luminescence she creates with her palette. The idea of painting colourful lighting effects is actually a reflection of LI’s obsession towards fluorescent lights found in music club interiors. Using real photographs for reference, LI’s minimalist canvases are exuberant and uplifting and bring audiences to a new level of appreciation of light and colour.
