Entering the big showroom, in his Murano gallery, that collects together some of Simone Cenedese’s latest glass works, is like entering directly into the middle of a celebration. Colours, materials and brilliant iridescences suddenly throw us into a world of play, fun, cheerfulness.
Without question Simone Cenedese is the young master who has brought to Murano most enthusiasm in an ironic and unconventional language that reinvents the rhythms and themes of pop art through the medium of glass; but we should not think that he merely quotes or, even worse, imitates the great American glass masters, instead he continuously brings their original inspiration up to date, almost transforming glass into the only material that still today is able to face up to such an explosive vitality.
We are not just in the presence of imagination, creativity, innovative bravery, because what most fascinates us is the extraordinary quality of the glass produced by Simone: pure, smooth, able to assume a thousand looks and dimensions and whose bright light certainly seems to be a symbol of hope and optimism.
