About Children’s Creative Arts Exhibition – Symphony of Life
by Osage Gallery
Location: Osage Kwun Tong
Date: 8 May - 21 May 2010

Osage Art Foundation is pleased to host the Children’s Creative Arts Exhibition – Symphony of Life, an exhibition of more than 200 two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks by over 300 little artists from the nine Hong Kong Christian Service (HKCS) Nursery schools.

Life is a series of fragmented musical notes, and more than 300 little artists will use colour as their instrument, and painting brushes as strings to orchestrate an innocent yet beautiful life symphony through a diverse range of medium. Their works share their discoveries, creativities and passion for life.

The Hong Kong Christian Services is presenting the 7th Children’s Creative Arts Exhibition – Symphony of Life for children in their kindergartens. Mr. Ko Tinlung, Chairman of Arts Promotion Office, Hong Kong Arts Development Arts is invited to be the honorary guest of the opening, which will be held on 7 May 2010 at Osage Kwun Tong, 6/F, Kian Dai Industrial Building, 73-75 Hung To Road, Kwun Tong, Kowloon. This exhibition, which will be held from 8 May to 21 May 2010, shows 229 pieces of graphic artworks and 33 pieces of 3-dimensional mixed media creations. Works shown in this exhibition, as agreed by the parents, will be available for sale and all proceeds will be donated to the Hong Kong Christian Service Children’s Art Development Fund to support early childhood art education.

HKCS Childhood Education Service Principle Coordinator Mrs. Chan Kong Siu Wai says, ‘Every work in the exhibition is handmade by the children; they capture the rhythm of life by using graphic and mixed medium artwork to demonstrate a variety of “Melody of Nature”, “Rhythm of the City”, “Sonatas of the Heart” and “Rhapsody of Creativity”.

Mrs. Chan continues, “each of the work contains children’s passion for life, their care of the surrounding, as well as discoveries and appreciation of beauty. We can share children’s happiness in learning and their journey of colour and music by looking at their masterpieces.”

Creative Arts is a meaningful annual cultural event. Through art, HKCS wishes to strengthen and raise children’s passion and motivation in art creation, as well as public’s understanding and awareness of early childhood arts development. HKCS promotes quality pre-school education for nearly 40 years. Since 1998, HKCS has been sponsored by Quality Education Fund to promote various creative education projects. Through continuous art educational activities, children can express what they see, think, listen and learn.

Since 2005, Osage Art Foundation has partnered with HKCS in offering professional artistic support and providing assistance in design and publicity. One of the main objectives of the Foundation is to increase community participation in the arts through education. This exhibition is a reflection of that commitment. Through this exhibition and other initiatives to introduce art workshops in pre-school curriculums, Osage Art Foundation aims to foster the link between education and the arts, nurture creativity and critical thinking, promote and develop innovative practice in research, teaching and learning.
