Snowballs & Disco brings together the talents of three diverse artists in a wintery exhibition that encompasses various media and subject matter. In a welcome return to the Hong Kong art scene British photographer Tim Hall presents five of his new photographs selected from his most recent series Mountain. A newcomer to the gallery’s stable of artists is Marc Standing, a young Australian artist of Zimbabwean origin whose work predominately focuses on themes of identity and, more specifically, how we are defined by our cultural identity. Following on from his sell out solo exhibition earlier this year, Tang Kwok Hin has created four new works using the exhibition’s wintery theme as a starting point. Each work is composed of up to six layers of glass, a technique that distorts the overall visual impression and lends these pieces a ghostly, intangible air. All three of these artists present work that is as different in subject matter as it is in the medium each employs. All three, however, create work that is not all that it seems on the surface. The quiet power of these works is in compelling the viewer to linger and to look again, more intently, and uncover the artist’s true intentions.
