Oil on canvas
“As I stand at my easel trying to work in my studio which by 2pm is very hot I am reminded why I am painting this exhibition. The temperature has been over 40 degrees for 10 days in a row, the plants are burnt and dying, the birds are standing on the ground with their beaks open trying to cool down. The icebergs at the poles are melting at an alarming rate raising the sea level and global warming is changing the planet forever. I wonder what it will take for communities to take heed the warnings from the scientists and put serious resources into developing green sources of energy. The paintings I have done for this exhibition still have a thread of frivolity and irreverence but with an underlying message for viewers to take as they will.” – artist, Chris Wake.
