Chris LO biography | artworks | events

Chris graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Armed with a formal education background in painting, he shifted his energies to specialize in ceramic art in 1993. Three years later, he founded his own art studio called the Cobo Ceramic Workshop which he heads to this day. This allowed Chris to actively participate in numerous art exhibitions in Hong Kong and China, as well as in Taiwan, Japan, USA and Europe.

His works include sculptural ceramics, installation works, commissioned pieces and functional objects that display both form and function. Chris’s works reflect his interpretation of life incensed by a strong internal spirituality.

“My creations explore themes that look into the co-existing relationship of the human “soul ” and space and time. Works of art symbolize all things in existence.

Tactile experiences and the use of materials are the process, and its significance emerges from the discovery and awakening of the soul.”

“I strongly believe in my convictions behind creation.
I do not stick to established practice;
I do not go to the extreme; there is no bigotry; I am tolerant and openminded;
and believe in the co-existing relationships of all things transforming
on earth.These are my convictions about life, and they have proven to be
the meaning and nature of my art creations.”

Chris’s works are carried in the collections of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, the National Museum of Chinese History in Beijing, and the Kohler Art Centre, Wisconsin, USA as well as a host of private individuals and collectors.
