The Vanishing Romance- Hong Kong Old Shops & Streets
by Gallery by the Harbour
Location: Gallery by the Harbour
Artist(s): Simon GO
Date: 11 Jun - 23 Jun 2010

Harbour City’s Gallery by the Harbour and HULU Culture will present to you the “The Vanishing Romance- Hong Kong Old Shops & Streets” Simon Go Photography Exhibition from 11th to 23th June 2010. The exhibition will showcase a series of photography featuring different communities and old shops in Hong Kong.

Old Shops & Streets carry many stories and history; however, rapid city development has brought huge damage to the traditional society and culture. Local documentary photographer Simon Go has recorded different communities and old shops by photography and brought an acute sensibility to his examination of social changes and action issues in Hong Kong. Simon applied captions to his photographs to develop a series of photographic anthologies demonstrating old shop history and the interaction with Hong Kong people.

In this photo exhibition at a mall gallery, Simon hopes to reach more people from different walks of life and raise public concerns and introspection to Hong Kong’s traditional communities. The exhibition venue will reflect the image of an old barber shop, with more than 20 monochromes, so as to let the audience feel the mood of old Hong Kong and recall the good times.
