American-born Chinese landscape painter Arnold Chang will showcase his critically-acclaimed ink landscapes in his first one-man exhibition at Plum Blossoms this Winter. This is an exhibition which any true lover of Chinese brush art should not miss out.
Born 1954 in New York, Arnold Chang was privileged to study connoisseurship and brush painting with the late renowned artist and collector, C.C. Wang. He went on to establish the Chinese Painting Department at Sotheby’s New York and served as the Director of the department for over a decade. It is rare to see a living artist with such devotion and commitment to continue and evolve within the traditional literati style of Chinese painting. It is an art practice that requires much discipline and an emphasis on painting as a means of moral cultivation.
Chang’s works can be found in museums worldwide, and he will be participating in the groundbreaking group exhibition “Fresh Ink: Ten Takes on Chinese Traditions” at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston from 20 November 2010 to 13 February 2011.
