Pearl Lam Galleries at Art Stage Singapore 2014
by Pearl Lam Galleries Hong Kong
Location: Booth A8, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
Artist(s): GROUP SHOW
Date: 16 Jan - 19 Jan 2014

Pearl Lam Galleries is participating at Art Stage Singapore, exhibiting at stand A8. The booth selection has been carefully chosen in dialogue with the opening exhibition of Pearl Lam Galleries’ fourth major space in Asia; launching 17th January 2014 in the Gillman Barracks, Singapore’s leading cultural center devoted to contemporary art.

The booth will present a selection of key works by influential artists from around the world, including Golnaz Fathi, Jenny Holzer, Jim Lambie, Jason Martin, Su Xiaobai and Zhu Jinshi.

Also on show will be new works by Michael Chow aka Zhou Yinghua ~O-O~, the renowned restauranteur - an artist who has returned to painting after more than 50 years, to present his first ever solo show – opening 13 January 2014 at Pearl Lam Galleries Hong Kong. Painting under the pseudonym of his Chinese name ‘Yinghua’ the artist will present a new series of large-scale mixed-media canvases heavy with precious metals including liquid silver and gold leaf, with paper currency fashioned onto canvases alongside trash, rubber gloves, cellophane, egg white and other diverse materials.

Further highlights will include works from American artist Jenny Holzer’s first ever LED text series created in Chinese, which recently debuted in Pearl Lam Galleries Hong Kong space, and impasto paintings by Zhu Jinshi, one of China’s most celebrated contemporary artists, who exploded onto the international art scene in the 1970s as a member of the ‘Stars’ (Xingxing) avant-garde artist group alongside Ai Weiwei and Ma Desheng.

The booth selection reflects Pearl Lam Galleries’ continued mission to foster cross-cultural dialogue and exchange between Asia and the rest of the world, and the Galleries’ long-established support for Chinese art over the past twenty years.
