We all live in a Bohemian Jungle, if we admit it or not.
In this show two very different artists with completely opposite approach have given us their interpretation of the Bohemian Jungle through their urban experience as immigrants of major cities.
Ernesto originally born in Portugal, has moved to Paris at the age of 18. His interest in painting carried him to France where he was accepted in the renowned "School of Fine Arts", Paris. After his graduation, he decided to establish his studio in the centre of Paris. His life in Paris has a great influence upon his works; he has totally absorbed the atmosphere and the typical images of Parisian life-style and uses the city cultural and flamboyant life style as main source of inspiration to his work.
Wang Yehan, originally born in Shanghai, immigrated to Toronto, Canada for a period of 20 years before returning to his hometown, Shanghai. His life time exposure to both western and eastern urban life styles nurtures his creativity and fuels his on-going artistic development. His abstract canvas can resemble cityscapes; condense crowds of people, reflection of high-rise buildings ….
As abstract always is, Wang’s work is open for personal interpretation but almost always will draw us to the urban interpretation.
This is Wang second exhibition in the city of Hong Kong following his sold out show in May 2008.
