Opera Gallery presents at Longines Hong Kong Masters International Show Jumping Competition
by Opera Gallery
Location: AsiaWorld Expo, Hong Kong
Artist(s): GROUP SHOW
Date: 21 Feb - 23 Feb 2014

For its second edition, Longines Hong Kong Masters, is proud to announce Opera Gallery as the exclusive and official art partner for Asia’s largest and only international Show Jumping competition, taking place from 21-23 February 2014 at AsiaWorld-Expo.

Celebrating the New Year of the Horse, Opera Gallery will showcase a selection of monumental equestrian art pieces by major contemporary artists during the three days of the event. Visitors will have the opportunity to view magnificent works of art including a 4-meter installation of a roaring Stallion, made entirely of coat hangers by Scottish artist David Mach, a 2.6-meter horse head, constructed out of a Formula 1 engine by French artist Pierre Matter and Salvatore Dali “Horse Saddled with time’ a bronze featuring his signature melting clock on a horse’s back.

“It may seem an unusual setting for viewing contemporary art alongside show jumping horses”, says Shirley Yablonsky, Director of Opera Gallery Hong Kong, “but it proves art has no boundaries and great art can be found everywhere. You can expect to be surrounded not just by international horses but also by international works of art by the likes of Salvador Dali and Andre Brasilier – that is sure to be a thrilling showcase!"

Mathieu Gheysen, Vice President of EEM Asia said, “Alongside the sporting competition, the Masters event aims to create a luxury lifestyle experience for its visitors at the Prestige Village. We are delighted to welcome Opera Gallery and major equestrian works of art at the event and highlight the cultural importance of horses in this special Year of the Horse.”

Opera Gallery has an international gallery network of 10 galleries globally that are situated in major art metropolises including London, Paris and New York, as well as regional locations in Singapore, Seoul and Dubai. Showcasing contemporary art alongside 20th century masters, the gallery is a collectors’ heaven with a range of collections that is a rare find in Asia, offering quality service, education and ongoing support for amateur as well as established collectors.

The Year of the Horse marks the 10th year anniversary of the gallery in Hong Kong - being the first international gallery to set foot in the city back in 2004 - the Gallery with 4 floors of exhibition spaces on 52 Wyndham Street, is a well-known destination for art lovers and collectors alike.

The Longines Hong Kong Masters brings the highest level of show jumping competition to Asia and combines iconic luxury brand sponsors with VIP entertainment and hospitality. The first edition of the Longines Hong Kong Masters saw 64 of the world’s best horses compete. It was a huge success with overwhelming support and attracted over 18,000 guests during the three days, including Qi Qi, Kathy Chow, Shelia Chan, Nina Lam and Aaron Kwok, Longines Ambassador of Elegance.

Hong Kong is the Asian leg of the Masters Grand Slam Indoor, which includes the Gucci Paris Masters and a soon to be announced third destination. The Longines Hong Kong Masters has already gained notable local support – accredited by the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) as a CSI 5*, LHKM is delighted to have the support from Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation.
