Hou Xi is a young abstract artist from Chengdu, South West China. The smoothly curved lines of her paintings are inspired by Chinese ink paintings, but her tools are not the Chinese Ink brush and rice paper but the contemporary media of acrylic and oil on canvas. The curved lines, encompassing complementary fields of colour construct a complex and dazzling composition, conveying a sense of of constant movement.
Hou Xi attempts through her paintings to convey an interpretation of the abstract concepts of time and space, where the sense of movement created by the line reflects the passing of time and the infinity of space.
