Yang Changbi, a talented landscape painter, was born in Heilongjiang in 1961. She uses her brush to portray winter willow, as a metaphor to encourage her audience to stay strong and hold on to their beliefs when facing hardships and challenges in life. Underneath Yang's placid exterior, lies a considerable inner strength and fortitude for a world of peace and that, is what we need in these modern world of speed and complexity.
Chen Guangming, a master in portrait painting, was born in Inner Mongolia in 1954. He studied classical impressionist painting technique, and has been teaching for over 30 years. His brush strokes are expressive and powerful. He makes life sketches of those hard-working miners, who are usually forgotten by the public. In Chen's huge striking canvas, the viewer is confronted with close-cropped portraits of miners where the artist aims to encapsulate the spirit of his subjects with a tender heart and a fair attitude.
