Canal is a Chinese artist living and working in Helsinki, Finland and is exhibiting regularly in Europe. Born in 1968 into an artistic family, her works are inspired by Chinese philosophical and contemporary expression. In addition the very special cultural experience of having lived in 7 different countries in the last 15 years from Asia to Europe and Africa to Scandinavia permeates her later works. They envisage meditation amid a tranquil atmosphere where spring is always in the air. She paints on different layers of rice paper with ink and colour, then finishes the work with acrylic and mixed media to incorporate a sense of depth. With her paintings, she enters the realm of joy and freedom where human beings and nature live in harmony.

The artist will be present at the opening reception on 24th November, 2010 at 7pm.
